The landlord of The Red Lion is ‘over the moon’ after it was named Mid Chilterns Pub of the Year.
The scenic Marsworth free-house did not even make it into the 2012 Good Beer Guide by the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA).
But former Barclays worker Michael Brake, who bought the pub from his dad in 2006, said: “We are over the moon. We have been practically campaigning, putting posters up for CAMRA members to vote for us and our beers.
“Now we have come out on top and won pub of the year.”
Michael, 42, has worked in the pub since 1995 after his parents bought it the year before.
