A man was left with a minor arm injury after a smash between a lorry, a van and a car on the M1 this morning.
By the time police and paramedics arrived, the vehicles had parked in the hard shoulder between Junctions 7 and 8 of the northbound motorway.
The collision, which happened at about 5.30am, was between a white Peugeot van, a grey Ford Galaxy and a DAF lorry.
The East of England Ambulance Service sent an ambulance and a fast response car to help a man who had been injured.
Spokesman Richard Dunne said: “The casualty was a man who had a minor arm injury and was taken to Watford General Hospital as a precaution.”
The man arrived at the hospital just before 7.10am.
Yesterday, commuters leaving Hemel Hempstead were delayed by a smash between a flatbed lorry and a blue Ford Focus just after 5.30pm at Junction 5 of the southbound M1, the turn-off for Watford.
Firefighters had to cut the roof off the Focus to release the driver, a man in his 30s. Paramedics took him to Watford General Hospital, and he arrived there at 7.30pm.
Police had to close the southbound motorway for about 10 minutes at 7.10pm while the collision was dealt with.
Spokesman Sarah Spence said the car also collided with the central reservation, but that the driver escaped with minor injuries.
