A birthing centre has been officially re-opened following a £537,000 government funded refurbishment project.
The Alexandra Birthing Centre at Watford General Hospital now offers ‘home from home’ facilities and boasts eight birthing rooms with en-suite bathrooms.
There are also two birthing pool rooms and a sensory room at the midwife-led centre.
West Herts Hospitals NHS Trust chief executive Samantha Jones – a mother of twins herself – said: “A new baby is a joyous time but it can also be a daunting time and families need to feel safe and secure.
“Our newly refurbished birthing unit will make a huge difference to the experience of families as it offers a modern environment with a wonderful, calming atmosphere.”
