Seven gardens in Bovingdon will open their gates to the public on Sunday afternoon.
The Open Gardens event has been organised by the Friends of St Lawrence Trust and will raise money for the group and also the Hospice of St Francis.
The gardens that are taking part are:
> Huntsmoor, Bushfield Road: A National Garden Scheme garden with all round interest, including trees, lilies, shrubs and herbaceous borders plus a large Koi pond and a nature pond.
>Pine Corner, the corner of Bushfield Road and Hempstead Road: A large naturalised garden with 20 different species of roses, as well as herbaceous borders and a pond
under construction.
>Hunters Lodge, Flaunden Lane: A small walled garden with areas of special interest, including a pond, raised vegetable beds and herb garden.
>Long Meadow, Flaunden Lane: A large garden with shrub and herbaceous borders and a secret walk. Also a semi-walled vegetable plot with eco-watering system.
>Austins Hall Farm, Venus Hill: A large open garden with orchard, cut flower beds and vegetable garden. For children there’s a zip wire, tree house, swing and trampoline.
>Shandon, Long Lane: Garden under construction with flower beds, pond and chickens.
>West Winds, Green Lane, Bovingdon Green: Large garden with mature trees, herbaceous borders, pergola and pond. Also a vegetable plot enclosed by hedging.
At some gardens there will be food, refreshments and music on offer.
