Ellie will speak up for young women

A young girl guide from Hemel Hempstead is one of 16 new members of Advocate, the Girlguiding youth panel.

Ellie Dibben, 16, applied for a two-year term in the group – which enables young women to have a voice at a national level – after being inspired by its activities.

Ellie, of Warners End, said: “I have always wanted to try something like Advocate. I am most looking forward to getting to know and learn from a group of like-minded young women.”

“I’m excited to see how I develop as a person and advocate throughout the next two years.”

The group meets three times a year to discuss issues important to young girls., with members being Girlguides aged between 14 and 25.

Previous advocates have spoken at party conferences, in the House of Commons, met MPs and championed the No More Page 3 campaign.

Ellie has been involved with guiding since the age of eight, and is now a brownie leader at 1st Potten End Brownies.
