Berkhamsted Lawn Tennis & Squash Rackets Club will be hosting a celebration of squash in memory of teenager Harry Faulkner who died suddenly during a game earlier this year.

Berkhamsted School pupil Harry, 18 – who was ranked sixth in England and 30th in the world for his age group – suffered from sudden adult death syndrome on February 8 when he was representing BLTSRC against St Albans.

Harry had been offered a scholarship to study PE, marketing and politics at Birmingham University – regardless of A-level results.

And on Saturday the club will host the Harry Faulkner Memorial Day where people can remember Harry by celebrating and sharing his love of the game of squash.

The day will also be a fundraising event for the charity CRY – Cardiac Risk in the Young – an organisation founded to raise awareness of conditions that can lead to young sudden cardiac related deaths.

BLTSRC communications manager Andrew Bryson said: “Harry was a young man with a huge, very bright future ahead of him.

“He was a gifted sportsman in many disciplines and very academic to boot.

“Harry was one of our elite junior players who played at the club for many years; he loved squash and the club was like his second home.

“His loss hit many of us very hard and he is missed terribly by family, friends and members alike.

“We really want to highlight what will be in our eyes a massive event at the club.”

Saturday’s event will be an all-day extravaganza of squash, beginning with a round robin tournament for club members of all standards .

Later in the day the club will be full of elite players dazzling spectators with their skills – the confirmed headliners are world champion Nick Matthew and British champion Alison Waters.

The bar will be open all day and food will be available, while commemorative T-shirts will be sold and there will be a charity auction and live music in the evening.

All are welcome to attend the bash, and for further information, please visit www.bltsrc.co.uk
