A Bourne End-based snack and soft drinks supply company is expanding its operations after booming throughout the recession period.

DDC Foods, presided over by managing director Chris Christofi and fellow directors Steve Morgan, Steve Tyler and Danny Abello, started life in the village in 1996 with premises measuring just 1,000 square feet.

Now, 18 years later, the company occupies 18,000 square feet in Bourne End and has just bought Hemel Hempstead’s Maylands House in Maylands Avenue as part of its expansion plans for this year.

Mr Christofi said: “We bought the Maylands unit as part of our expansion as a result of our continued success.

“Throughout the recession period and over the last four years we have experienced record growth year on year.

“We have been bucking the trend for businesses at this time.”

The company has no plans to occupy the new building – measuring 25,809 square feet – until at least the end of the year.

DDC, which organises the supply of a range of snack foods, drinks and confectionery, will act as landlords for the building’s current tenants until the move.
